There are definitely some popular summer 2012 trends that will be carried over into spring 2013, as we just witnessed last week at New York Fashion Week. Designers displayed collections with standout summer pieces including neon accents, peplum, prints, and high slit maxi skirts. One timeless trend that emerged with a makeover is tweeds, which we’re loving! We’re obsessed with tweeds making a comeback because now we can re-wear some items that have been pushed to the back of our closets over time.
Hello woven and knit jackets, á la Chanel. OMG, swooning! Rebecca Minkoff paired plaid tweed jackets over vintage printed tee shirts and shorts. Badgley Mischka showed pastel, tailored, tweed jackets as well as lurex-coated tweed pants and skirts for a metallic tweed effect – very cool! Whitney Eve combined pastel tweed knits and unstructured tweed jackets with printed bottoms. Farah Angsana displayed a black and white sheath tweed dress with embellished shoulders. Lastly, Son Jung Wan presented oversized, babydoll jackets in allover tweed as well as embellished tweed, pastel dresses. SJW also utilized lurex-coated tweed for a romper in a silver champagne color.
